Mass Storage Technology Fundamentals SR162B
This course will introduce the student to technologies used with mass
storage peripherals.
STUDENT PROFILE:
CSO sales representatives, sales management and PSO consultants
worldwide.

None
STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
o Identify the three major technologies used for mass storage.
o Describe the six basic mass storage user needs.
o Identify the characteristics of the four commonly used interfaces
used for mass storage peripherals.
o Describe the three hard disk drive technologies.
o List the characteristics of a disk drive that define its
competitive criteria.
o Identify the advantages and disadvantages of the three hard drive
technologies.
o Describe the four tape drive technologies.
o Describe the appropriate applications of each of the tape drive
technologies.
o Describe the optical disk technologies.
o Identify applications for optical disk technologies.
o List the advantages and disadvantages of the optical disk
technologies over other storage media.
o Describe the future trends in optical disk, magnetic disk and
magnetic tape mass storage technologies.
